Our watches are essentially made of four groups of external parts: straps, small metallic parts, the case and the glass.
Metallic parts, case and glass are the easiest to treat in case of dirty. You can use a duster or a cloth with a little amount of alcohol to rub the stains, you won't have any troubles to have your watch perfectly shining in a few seconds with just a little effort. We suggest you to avoid the contact of the alcohol with the straps. They are strong and resistant, but protecting them from aggressive chemicals can help to make their color last longer.
The straps are certainly the part of the watches more likely to get dirty, always in contact with our skin, clothes and tables.
In the most of the cases, if the stain is not too much aggressive, a gentle soap with mild temperature water rubbed with a cloth, should work great. A brush can be used if the stain require a little more energy.
But what if the stain is still there after rubbing by hands with a gentle soap?A washing machine 30 Celsius deg cycle can be used. But don't forget to detach the straps and the spring bars (the 2 cylindrical metal retractable bars that hold the straps to the case) from the case! The movement inside the case and the glass would not resist to the washing machine hits.
A few styles, the 4 ones from the La Mer collection, have a removable straps and thanks to their easy click system can be removed and replaced by hands.
On all other watch styles, a proper tool to remove the straps is required, so the change of straps can be done only visiting a watch store. The operation is usually free and very fast.
